What we doā¦
MidCoast Shakespeare Studio offers the community of MidCoast Maine an opportunity to experience theatrical arts through educational theater courses and workshops, as well as performances and events, focusing primarily on the works of William Shakespeare.
With over 50 years of combined experience, the artists and educators at MidCoast Shakes are committed to creating an inclusive, non-competitive environment where artists of all levels can play, learn the how-tos of theater-making, and collaborate with peers and professional theater artists.
We hope youāll join us for classes, fun events, productions, and more. Our space is your space.
Get Involvedā¦
MidCoast Shakes is a space to create thought-provoking projects for the stage. Here, you can take a theater class, build things in our Makerās Space, join us for an evening of reading Shakespeare, perform in a full-length play, and much more.
We foster both the creative project and the creative artist. If you are developing a script, want to work on a movement piece, or are interested in learning new aspects of theater-making, MidCoast Shakes is for you.
If you are a local performer, or member of a performing group, come join us for Coffee Nights, held once a month at our studio in the Belfast Center.
Launched in 2025, MidCoast Shakespeare Studio was founded by four friends and theater artists who wanted to build an approachable space for the MidCoast Maine community to explore Shakespeare, Storytelling, and what it means to be Human.
We invite you to join us on this journey!
Who we areā¦
