MidCoast Shakespeare Studio offers the community of MidCoast Maine an opportunity to experience theatrical arts through educational theater courses and workshops, as well as performances and events, focusing primarily on the works of William Shakespeare.
With over 50 years of combined experience, the artists and educators at MidCoast Shakes are committed to creating an inclusive, non-competitive environment where artists of all levels can play, learn the how-tos of theater-making, and collaborate with peers and professional theater artists.
Our studio space at the Belfast Center will be open to the community beginning in March 2025. We hope you’ll join us for classes, fun events, productions, and more. Our space is your space.
What we do…
Get Involved…
At MidCoast Shakes, we are a space to create thought-provoking projects for the stage. Here, you can take a theater class, build things in our Maker’s Space, join us for an evening of reading Shakespeare, perform in a full-length play, and much more.
We foster not just the creative project, but the creative person as well. If you are developing a script, want to work on a movement piece, or are interested in learning new aspects of theater-making, MidCoast Shakes is for you. Join us!
Launched in 2025, MidCoast Shakespeare Studio was founded by four friends and theater artists who wanted to build an approachable space for the MidCoast Maine community to explore Shakespeare, Storytelling, and what it means to be Human.
We invite you to join us on this journey!
Who we are…
